《JIVATMA》 A Transcendental Transformation

In simple understanding ‘Jiva’ means any living entity and ‘Atma’ means Consciousness or Soul. There are millions of living species on this earth but the highest among all considered is human being. Every species has its own level of consciousness. For an example an ant has limited consciousness of life, food and security. It doesn’t know anything more about what happening around. An elephant has its own consciousness and definitely is much more than an ant. But they are not capable to gain knowledge, intellect etc. In comparison humans have the higher level of consciousness. Only the human beings have been facilitated or blessed the liberty of education, knowledge, reasoning, intellect and wish to seek about its creator.

By renouncing the worldly pleasures, by becoming an intense seeker and by developing spiritual consciousness one can be free from the cycle of birth and death.

On some day Swami Vivakaknada (a famous spiritual Guru in India) told his elder brother that he think he will leave this body soon as he feels his consciousness level becomes higher and its keep growing so his body cannot hold this level of consciousness for long time.

By spiritual practices and with the help of a guru, a seeker consciousness expand, as a result his awareness becomes vast and tuned with the supreme consciousness.

In a ‘Jiva’ – there is an ‘amsa’ (element) of the conscious God and an ‘amsa’ of the inert nature (Prakrity). By the dominance of the conscious part, one seeks his creator (God) and by the dominance of the inert part, he desires the material world. Between these two, the yearning for God could be satisfied, but the desires of the world are never fulfilled. Owing to worldly attachment, ever new desires arise. God realization is not under the power of karma, it is attended by the intense longing of one’s own-self. Each karma has a beginning and an end, so the result too is bound to have a beginning and an end. How can then a beginning less and endless God, Be realized by karma. Every living being of any kind of species has its own limitations and set of karmas. It’s such like a person in jail has to follow the manuals of the jail. If he behaves well and good he will be rewarded and if he behave bad and not follow the rules, he will be punished. But once he is out of the jail need not to follow the jail manuals. Out of body we are vast and limitless. We are not bound to follow the rules of Karma when we are pure consciousness. When we are living beings we have to follow our own set of karma’s. But by doing good karmas he cannot get realization of God, he may be rewarded as a nice life or nice rebirth. So the intense seek for knowing own-self, leads to know the ultimate consciousness. Realization is completely an inner process , it doesn’t have anything with outside world.

Gita says” Gradually fixing one’s mind on God, when the ‘Chitta’ gets controlled, having no worldly attachment and being incapable of realizing God, due to inertness, it becomes unconcerned with the world. On the ‘chitta’ becoming unconcerned, the seeker becomes completely cut off from the mind or innerness and he gains experience of Godhead automatically.”

There is no necessity of any practice in believing or knowing, one’s relation with God, for example, on accomplishment of marriage, when a woman accepts a man as her husband, she needs to do nothing further, in so believing. The primacy is only of knowing (Viveka) and believing (Bhava). If a seeker realizes that, I have no relation and attachment with body at all, the very outset spirituality dawns upon him. As he was bondage in mistaken belief that ‘I am the body and the body is mine’ so too by cultivating the right belief that ‘I am not the Body and the body is not mine’ a seeker liberated, because as a principal, by not relying on, the accepted belief tends to melt away.

Gita clearly says- an ignorant person, accepting his link with the body, regards himself as the doer of the things happen but an enlightened person does not regard himself as the doer, of those activities, therefore that to root out a false belief, it is necessary to stress a true belief.

‘I am a Hindu’, ‘I am a Christian’, ‘I am a saint’, etc. such beliefs, become so firm that until man does not give these up by himself, no one else, can make him change his belief. Similarly the belief that ‘I am the body’, ‘I am the doer’ etc. also becomes so firm, that it is difficult for a seeker to give these up. But these worldly beliefs being unreal and untrue, are not everlasting and instead changeable. The beliefs such as ‘I am not the body’, ‘I am consciousness’ being real and true are never lost, but there is only a degree of forgetfulness, a turning of back on these happens sooner or later. Therefore, a real belief on becoming firmly rooted, does not remain as mere belief, but is transmuted into realized awareness (experience).

In reality, there was never a disunion (Viyoga) with God (supreme consciousness), and this is not , even possible. Separation appears only by an assumed relationship with the world (samyoga). A man intensely eager for realization, realizes God (supreme consciousness), after renouncing the assumed link with the world and merges with him. Buddha renounced all worldly pleasures (Ananda and Bhoga) , went to realize himself to the jungle. Transcend into his own inner world and become Amitabha Buddha.

We always say there is a god in every creature and its ultimate truth. A drop of sea water has the same molecule and quality of the ocean. The same way every divine soul has the quality of the supreme soul. Once you know yourself you will know everything.
